Last week’s blog covered the big wins for Pivotal CRM users who are going mobile on iPad or iPhone with the Pivotal Mobile CRM App. This week we’re taking a bit of a deeper dive into some of the customizable aspects of the Pivotal CRM Mobile App that enable your organization to operate according to its own requirements and business rules so that you’re not only fully functional in the field, but are also served information in the way that’s easiest to access, and that makes the most sense for you and your team.
Pivotal Toolkit enables you to design and adjust any number of areas within the Pivotal CRM App; this blog will focus on Device Forms, which have an enormous impact on how critical data is displayed on a mobile device.
At the most basic level, Device Forms are used to design forms that are then displayed on the iPad or iPhone. They are ordered hierarchically and made up of tabs and segments, where a tab represents the highest level and is made up of one or more segments, which each contain elements such as fields and text.
The images below show (top to bottom) what the Company form looks like in the design environment, compared to the way it is displayed an iPad and (second image) iPhone.
The Company Tab contains all of the segments displayed on the form; you can also add primary segments that makes sense for the way your business operates. Putting fields in different primary segments allows you to adjust the layout of the segments to suit your needs as well as to make them collapsible for cases when users want to save precious real state on screen. You can control a number of attributes at the segment level, including number of columns (iPad only), whether or not to display a segment title, and alignment of the label.
Secondary Segments can also be added to access information from other tables, and Search Result List Segments can be added to the form to display information from a search.
These are just a few of the customizations that are possible for the Pivotal CRM App — tune in next time for a discussion of customizing the mobile dashboard.
